The “dual drag” feature of this Wonder Cast 1795 reel was an innovation that helped improve the sales of the 1795. This pristine solidly built reel had a star drag, silent non reverse and held 100 yards of 15 lb test line. The dual drag feature allowed the fisherman to increase drag tension while playing the fish. One could increase or decrease drag tension momentarily by ”backing up” or moving the handle forward. When one let go after movement the drag would return to the pre set value. A photo of the descriptive text of the included instructions for this feature is shown in photo 8. This highly innovative U.S. made “Dual Drag” reel was also regarded as Shakespeare’s premium, push button offering at the time.
