Redesigned and upgraded to a new generation, the Daiwa Saltist MQ Spinning Reels take giant leaps into new technologies and manufacturing capabilities, stepping into a new range of sizes due to Daiwa's MQ frame (Monocoque Body) design. Daiwa's MQ frame allows for a much larger gear set to be added to each reel as well as 360-degree screw-in side plates. The MQ frame is essentially a one-piece body design, eliminating the traditional side plate and replacing it with what they call an "engine plate", screwing into the reel directly. The traditional side plate and many screws that come along with it are eliminated, therefore giving more room to fit larger gears and fewer entry points for sand, water, grime and debris from entering the reel, prolonging its life and giving the user more time to think of fishing, rather than

Daiwa's all new Saltist Spinning Reels have taken a huge step forward from their predecessor! These all aluminum reels have been rebuilt from the ground up and have been outfitted with Magsealed technology. The main shaft and line roller are both mag sealed. Daiwa has also put a mag sealed ball bearing into the 4500 and larger size reels along with seven CRBB corrosion resistant ball bearings. The 4000 and smaller sizes have 8 CRBB.

A 360 degree screw-in sideplate removes to need for traditional sideplate screws, allowing for a more compact and more weather resistant housing.
